[A blonde woman is interviewed in a library. Text: "Catherine, Parent, Parramatta North Public School."] CATHERINE: I was very nervous about coming to primary school, especially m... I did want my son mainstreamed, but I was very nervous about coming to primary school. He was at a wonderful preschool for two years, where he was, during that time, he was diagnosed with autism within the first few months of being there. But as soon as I came to the school to enrol, I was made to feel quite welcome. Another wonderful thing that all his teachers have done, the whole time he's been here - I have some wonderful books which explain to children what autism or sensory processing disorder is. When he's not in the classroom, so it's not targeting him while he's there, they do read the books to the children so the children have an understanding as to, "This child's not just mucking up and getting away with it. He actually can't, at this moment in time, do what is required of him in the classroom."
