[cheerful music] [upbeat music] - The adjustments we make in the school vary depending on the child's needs. We have a nice collection of sensory toys in particular that we find our students really require and need for sensory breaks. In terms of educational adjustments, the IEPs are really great in establishing a set of goals. Each teacher is trained really well in how to have a smart goal that is specific for that child and achievable for that child. - So for a student in my class, with adjusting a task. So if we're telling a story we'd actually bring the puppets out and the different things. We'd listen to the story and then we'd retell the story with the puppets. And then he or she would have a go at retelling the story. And then from that, the teacher would model a sentence, cut it up, and um, they'd be able to read the words back and then get into the writing mode. With one student in my class at the start of the year, oral/verbal skills were challenging. Couldn't get a conversation out. The child was getting frustrated with that. So we'd use a visual thing where they can say "I want" and there's lots of options for them. They'd use the pictures and they can pull them off and move them around. That child can now come up and use their oral skills to say I would like this, and put it into a sentence. - Each class has an open door policy so parents are able to come in in the morning or in the afternoon for informal chats. We also use Seesaw as a digital portfolio where parents can get direct messages of what their children are currently doing in the classroom through photos and videos, some work samples. And it's also message system. So in regards to the NCCD and adjustments, families really want to know that the needs of their children are being met. And that's really important for all families and for all children. [light music].
