[upbeat music] [instrumental music] - Welcome to Balanggarra country. We're at St. Joseph's School, which is in the most northern part of Western Australia. We have approximately 64 students, and the majority of our students are aboriginal. - The school helped me by understanding that kids still need, that they have the right to be educated and it's good for them to be in an environment where they are learning for themself. I think it's important that all schools should have talks with parents, and keep them up to date. - The importance of parents input is the partnership that we can create with them. It helps extend the learning from what they've learned at home to school. I can know their interests. I can know things about their culture, their family, and I can bring that into the curriculum and make learning interesting. - Be interactive with the school. Encourage the childrens and basically know that they at a good place where they should be. All parents should be involved with school activities, meetings, assemblies. So that way you know what's happening with the school, the childrens, and the community as well. /
