Ted's story

Ted is enrolled in Year 7 in a mainstream high school which groups according to ability level in English. He has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. He is filmed working in a classroom that provides additional support and a modified program targeting reading. The teacher provides individual instructional support, which may include extra assistance on understanding the content and a reduction in the number of tasks required.

The school is an Independent senior secondary campus and a registered training organisation located in a regional centre. The student population is around 1300 students from Years 7 to 12. Students are offered several approved specialist programs including Aviation, Japanese and the innovative Mathematics and Philosophy course.
