Do you have evidence that an adjustment has been provided for a minimum of 10 weeks?
For a student to be included in the NCCD, the school must have documented (physical or digital) evidence of adjustments provided to meet ongoing, long-term specific needs associated with disability that have a functional impact on the student's schooling.
Adjustments must have been provided for a minimum period of 10 weeks of school education in the 12 months preceding Census Day. However, if a student is participating in a school-based activity during the school holidays (for example, camp) where the school is providing adjustments, then this time can be included in the 10 weeks.
Where a student has been newly enrolled in the school in the 12 months prior to Census Day, the school may include that student only if it has evidence of the continuing need for adjustments for the student comprising at least 10 weeks in that 12 months. Evidence of adjustment(s) from the student's previous school can be included, provided it is from the 12 months prior to Census Day. Evidence of long-term adjustments from the previous school can be combined with evidence that similar adjustments are being implemented in the new school.
Evidence and any associated records for the NCCD must be kept for a minimum of 7 years, as required by Section 37 of the Australian Education Regulation 2013. It is highly recommended that schools develop processes to record, store and maintain evidence.
